Moritz Wehrmann (1980) is an artist-researcher and educator, living and working in Weimar and Berlin.
In discussion was his artwork Alter Ego, a participatory work for two persons. It uses stroboscopic light and a sheet of glass that create a metamorphosis between ones own mirror image and the image of the opposing person on the other side of the glass. The artwork aims at creating a mental conflict of self-localisa-tion, a feeling of self-loss and a feeling of pure empathy at the same time. The work is foundation for interdisciplinary cooperations in neurophysiological research, playing an important role in the basic research areas of self-other perception, and mechanisms of sympathy and empathy research and their disorders e.g. schizophrenia, autism or Alzheimer‘s disease.
