STRAN 22 is an interdisciplinary collective from the Slovenian Littoral that includes several artists from different fields – from visual and performative arts, architecture and design to original music and poetry. They have an interdisciplinary approach and a strong wish to explore new unconventional artistic expressions.
In Soap Opera (2019), a mechanical device uses soap water to create a fragile film between two spaces, the one white and light, the other black and dark. The film itself produce almost psychedelic textures of colour and light, but they are only visible to the people in the light side. People in the dark side only see people who wonder something they can’t see. Every now and then the film breaks and people can move from one side to the other, and see what other people have seen. The installation allows for an experience of a momentary creation of some kind of a spatial divide that reflects the insecurity and fragility of experiencing reality, the instability of the balance between the subject and the world.
In the discussion the importance of space became a main topic, as well as performativity and audience participation in light art.
