Yalda Afsah is a German-Iranian artist and filmmaker whose work specializes in cinematic methods to explore and challenge the relationship between reality and staged experience. She interweaves documentary-like subjects and theatrical spaces in cinematic frames questioning perception, instinct and manipulation. Her films and video art focus on social – human-human and human-animal – interactions. By dovetailing factual observation with performative elements, Afsah crafts a cinematic language that foregrounds the dimensions of mediated experience.
