Olafur Eliasson

Olafur Eliasson was born in Denmark 1967, and now based in Berlin.

His work is influenced by architecture, space, perception and geometry. Light is his prominent, if not the sole material in his artworks. Light phenomena, like reflections, are in focus in his practice, as is solar light. Olafur has designed many public artworks, one of the most known being Your Rainbow Panorama on top of the Aros museum in Aarhus.

The most discussed artwork was Yellow Corridor (1997) and its dependency of the site it is presented in. The artwork consists of a space and low pressure sodium fixtures, whose light is monochromatic, losing all the colours except for gloomy yellow. Especially edition in The Winter Palace of Prince Eugene of Savoy, Vienna 2015, was discussed.
