Mary Corse is mostly known as a painter, and light plays an integral part in many of her paintings – both physically incorporated in them and as an outside force complementing the artwork. Her style is mostly geometric, simple and clean-cut, and her paintings abstract. Her colour range emphasizes hues of white, added with occasional dash of primary colours. In addition to regular paints, Mary Corse uses reflecting materials in her paintings, which makes the paintings react to existing light, changing according to the position of the viewer.
