Lita Albuquerque is an American artist and writer known for large-scale installations that merge land art, light, color, and cosmology to translate ideas of time and space into human experience. She became associated with the Light and Space and Land Art movements in the 1970s, gaining early recognition for ephemeral pigment works in desert landscapes. Her projects often use celestial mapping and geometric alignments, as in the Antarctic work “Stellar Axis,” to link earthly sites with star constellations and invite viewers to feel embedded in a larger cosmic order.
