She is an art historian and curator, and since 2018 she has been head of the Four Domes Pavilion (Pawilon Czterech Kopuł), the Museum of Contemporary Art that is part of the National Museum in Wrocław. Iwona specializes in modern and contemporary art and has curated numerous exhibitions.

Since 2018, she has shaped the presentation of the museum’s permanent collection of over 30,000 post-war Polish contemporary works, including artists like Paweł Althamer, Mirosław Bałka, Tadeusz Kantor, and Alina Szapocznikow; exhibitions rotate to reflect Expressionism, Surrealism, conceptual art, and socio-political themes from the 20th–21st centuries. Mayor exhibitions under her leadership featured artists a.o. Magdalena Abakanowicz, Günther Uecker, Waldemar Cwenarski.
