Ángel Duarte’s artistic research was rooted in geometric abstraction, but it developed beyond form into a sustained investigation of space, light, and movement. His work combined mathematical rigor with industrial materials, especially in sculptures based on the paraboloid where structure and void become active elements of the image.
After the experience of Equipo 57, he continued in solo practice with a strong interest in kinetic and optical effects, using metal rods and spatial constructions to create works that shift as the viewer moves. This research also carried a social dimension. He consistently defended a non-elitist art, linked to collaboration, experimentation, and public presence.
